Hello to all ,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if an EC of 2000 ( 1400ppm ) can =
affect the health of rainbow trout. I am new to aquaponics but not to =
recirc fish farms. I understand I must bring up the EC to around 2000 in =
order for my lettuce to do alright, yet I am a little concerned for the =
trout.

Wow that was a fast reply...Thanks Barry,

I'm at the beginning stage of setting up a small scale trout and lettuce =
experimental lab up here in Quebec. The system is a raft one using 0.3 =
square feet of growing area per gallon of fish water ( I actually am =
going by the amount of feed put in to the system w/r to growing space ). =
I'm at the viscous circle stage trying to get things started, I 'm =
hoping to be able to remove my biofilter once the plant roots are =
established. Getting back to the original question; I'm slowly =
increasing the nutrient content of the system with hydroponic liquid =
fertilizers to have enough for the plants which , once established can =
then help with the biofiltration .( Am I wrong in doing so, I read that =
small leafy plants need an EC of 400 to start and ~2000 once established =
).

I'm new and just starting up my grow system.
I'd like to know the names and varieties of salad greens, etc. that grow
well in in these aquaponic and are particularly good in all kinds of Mexican
cooking.
Please give me the whole scoop! :-)
