The polycarbonate sold in our local Home Depot now
has a LIFETIME warranty against yellowing or
breakage. That's what I plan to use...

The "polycarbonate" sold in the Home Depot here is about 1/8th inch
thick and is not the dual-chamber stuff, and it cost $18 for a sheet
about 2x3. That's $3 per square foot, almost double what the 6mm dual
chamber polycarbonate costs.

I don't think it was really polycarbonate either. Comes in two
thicknesses, and neither is particularly rigid. I'll check next time
I'm in town and get an exact part number, manufacturer, and cost.

I beg to differ ....that price works for a corrugated sheet 2 1/2 feet
by 8 feet .
Possibly your thinking of lexan sheet..... not the corrugated
"patio cover" that also comes in a bronze color for minimum light
transmitance.

Oddly enough I didn't see any mention in the posting I responded to
about corrugated anything.

However, the light transmittance of the corrugated stuff I've seen is
much lower than that for the dual and triple chambered polycarbonate
(not lexan at all btw, Lexan is a brand name, like Jello).

Besides, the corrugated stuff is ugly. I don't want that attached to my
house. YMMV.
