Dear Marcy and Mark:

Conga-rats on the purchase. We'd like to know more about it.

Jose

Well Doug,

I live in the Caribbean, ... Jamaica W.I. in particular. I live in Spanish

Town, one of the oldest towns in Jamica, (our first capital).

A little history there. :-)

I want to establish a polyculture farm using aquaponics. The basic model

will be the design by the Speraneo's of S & S Aquafarms. I will be growing

a mixture of fish. Tilapia, for local consumption initially, then as I

develop more experience in production and can increase volume, I will

export. I will also look to import some brood stock of select ornamental

fish to breed here in jamaica for export to the United States &/or wherever

the demand is. The plants will mostly be short term cash crops, the

specific crop will be determined in the future. But let us not put the cart

before the horse.

My first goal is to acquire the land.

Of course not being born with a 'golden' spoon in my mouth, I have to start

small and grow the business. :-) No pun intended.

My wife and I came close to finalising a deal three times, the first two

were sales, and the final one was a lease of five acres of land.

Unfortunately, the last deal was put together by a customer of mine, who

left Jamaica for the United States to work for who knows how long. He left

rather quickly without notice, and without telling me where to find the

owner of the land, who happens to live in England, spending only a few

months of the year in Jamaica. The people in the community know the owner

but cannot pinpoint where he lives.

In the meantime I am not giving up. While I wait, I will work. :-)

It is for the above reason, having searched for quite a few years now, that

I am excited for you. I can only say now that the adventure has just begun.
