Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the information it really is useful
I am cosidering using siporax as a biological filter media. The specific
surface area is given as 4500 sq feet per litre. Does anyone have an idea of
what the effective specific surface area is.
In reply to your question Sam I intend to build 4 of these tanks over one
year if I get the kind of returns I am expecting from my fish sales. 80,000
pounds a year ultimately. I do not plan to heat up the water since I will be
operating in a tropical region but I will need to protect the system agains
supersaturation like you said from leaks etc. any ideas?
Thanks/ Regards
Tunji

Tunji - are you only considering "artificial media", or do you have plants
in your plan for the fish farm. Your original post read:

Does this mean that you are only trying to set up an aquaculture set-up, or
are you combining the plant growth in an "aquaponics" system? The
discussion thus far seems to indicate aquaculture only.

Hi Paula,
I am interested in aquaponics as well especially growing vegetables like
tomatoes, however for the first couple of months i will stick to
aquaculture. Also I do not know enough about aquaponics yet to start on it.
Once I get the aquaculture section started I will the focus on the plant
culture
