This link seems relevant considering the thread on

sterilization earlier.

Hi Barry (and the rest of the list),

And thanks to all of you who have been so kind as to reply with suggestions

and ideas.

No pictures yet, just finished the excavation - we'll post some later.

There will be 3 greenhouses, 3300 sq ft each approx. Although we are

focusing on getting just one finished and operational by winter. 2 or 3

terraces per greenhouse.

We don't know yet, but because we are in the highest solar energy zone of

the US, we have been warned too much light or burning may be more of an

issue than too little.

I've never heard anything about pressure, but the altitude increases the

solar radiation.

We'd like to be as simple and sustainable as possible, plus be prepared for

total photovoltaic system failure. Also, the PV system is looking like it

may cost far more than originally thought, because of how high drain the

pumps are.

What is a line pot?

If I had used media and a run to waste

Tom at S&S has had problems with 12 v pumps. I wish I could find reliable

ones. I heard of a good one, it was a swimming pool pump, but it was bronze

and would've been toxic to the fish.

Never did have more trouble with

Are you in Hawaii William? which island?

thanks

I think it would depend on the water pressure, dependent on the "head" (how

high the gravity feeding source is above where it's going). You should be

able to duplicate pump pressure levels with enough head.

thanks, I will

true. Have to think on that one.

Hi Mike, that pump sounds very interesting. Is there anywhere I can get

more

detailed info? Greenhouse sizes are about 33 x 100.

In the past someone offered assistance with plans to build a ozone generator

to help with fish DO.

If still available please let me know how I can contact you.

Thanks very much.
