I hit a dead end on that one, Jay. $1,200 seemed to me the cheapest I

could find. I would even consider renting one occasionally if it were

available...As an alternative you might try a fogger. I don't really

like the Atomist which I'm using (too awkward and clunky). There are

two one-gallon foggers for sale, one is called the Hurricane (I think

Crop King has them). The other option is a blower-sprayer, actually a

gas-powered leaf blower with fine spray capability for about $650-675.

How are your strawberry plants doing?

Concerning Paulownia , I ordered seed from Park seed company years ago after

hearing how valuable the tree was considered by the Orientals. Don't know

the variety, but I manged to plant about a dozen seedlings, and they have

grown tremendously, beautiful flowers,

some were mowed down accidentally but didn't seem to notice, they came right

back. They have not spread or appear invasive. I really like these trees,

the leaves are large and beautiful, and esp. since I got them CHEAP :> I

think they would be great to plant along the edge of your property on the

North side...

Thank you very much. I will check out the Park seed source.

Hi there !

Thanks for the info. At the Verti-gro seminar they demo'd an electrostatic

gun that they use. Really effective ! They don't sell them - just shared

the info. As a bit of an inventor I think I can fashion one if I can find

out what is needed out of the end. Understand the plants have a natural

positive charge, so I need to put out a negative charge on the water

droplet. The very fine spray should not be a problem, but the electrical

end is not my field (yet). The one I saw has only a rechargable battery as

a power supply, so it can't be too difficult. Time will tell.

The strawberries are doing well, but not all planted yet. About 1900 to

go. Picture this - the towers are all white, as is the floor, and the

leaves are deep green. When you walk down the rows with the towers 7 ft.

high, the deep green leaves contrasting against those pure white styrofoam

pots is just a thing of beauty. (Maybe the picture in my eyes is enhanced

by months & months of sweat equity). Will be even better with red berries

on them - just in time for Christmas. (Sounds like a great picture for for

the newspaper the marketer inside me whispers).

Covering the g/h today - cold is coming.

I will put together a report on the Verti-gro seminar to share with all

when I get the rest of the planting done.

Jay,

Where did you get the styroform containers for the strawberries ans approx

cost ?

Good luck.

The inventor in you needs to go talk to a car body paint shop. That's

where the electrostatic technology was first developed. Then sell it to

the rest us us at a modest profit:>).

Is the need for the sprayer a strict requirement. Or , if a paint

was available that could be applied by hand, and was nontoxic, and

rustproof.... and durable

Would that fit the bill?

Bill,

The sprayer is for the application of pesticides and foliar feeds. The

technology ensures 100% coverage of all surfaces. Come to think of it,

paint would be a good deterrent to those pesky AFIDZ...that would teach

them!

Ok so were talkin very atomizd spray that can hit bottom leaf surface

as well?w/o excess runoff.... That's a trick application

I see now how this would be necessary in an aquaponics situation where

water chemistry is critical. Any excess foliar could really disrupt the

water, yes?

Just my 2 cents worth on this subject: My wife and I are motor home

campers and we have a mesquito fogger. It has a reservoir on the bottom

and after it heats up it ( fogs ) the spray, have been thinking of trying

this in my greenhouse for white fly, using safer insect soap any

thoughts?

Since the mosquito fogger is actually a steamer of sorts I wonder if

soaps would gum up the works.

I will check it out this weekend and report back to list. I have one that is

electric and one that is propane. the electric one is sooooooo easy to use, I

hope for success. ( rumor is the white fly aren't as excited)

Adriana,

Have you considered rechargeable atomizer sprayers such as those available

from Grainger? Handheld and rechargeable by a compressor. This is what I

personally have been looking into......Em

I didn't know they had them. What's the capacity? Price? I guess it

helps to have a compressor? Cha-ching$$$$$
