Paula:
Two or three times i got the HAHAHA message. I didn't open and I eliminate
it inmediatly. The last time, I sent it back to the sender with a message
telling "don't send to me any more". In one or two days, I got a message
from some machine telling me that it was a virus, they were looking for its
origen, etc. etc. A very long message telling me what I have to do.
So, HAHAHA is a virus.
Where it comes, I don't know.
Carlos

Question: Does it make any measureable difference how deep the liquid is in
a floating system ?
I want to put in this method for my summer lettuce crop, but not sure how
high I need to make the walls. Plan to use lumber 2x6, or 2x8, whatever.
Using non-circulating Hydro fert. 32 sheets of foam.
Thanks

Dear Steve:
Our summertime short course includes a half day (morning) in a classroom
and a half day (afternoon) in the field. If you got on a plane down
here next week you could be an intern for as long as you like. There
would be no formal classroom time and you would sweat a little more but
you would be harvesting fish and vegetables, feeding 3x a day, grading
and sorting the juveniles, installing liners in our new hydroponic
tanks, laying blocks for our new 55,000 gallon greenwater tank AND you
would have a 5:1 teacher/student ratio to tell you all the details, good
and bad, of our systems.
I have one intern here right now who is, today, sorting red tilapia
brood fish and collecting eggs and fry. She is soaking wet. She will
sort the males from females and haul them back to their separate tanks.
She will enumerate the fry. She will clean the eggs and get a hatching
jar running. And that is just her morning work. In the afternoon she
is transplanting cucumber, pak choi, collards and basil.
There is plenty to do so come on down.

Jay, the more depth keeps the nutrient cooler so the 2x8 would be better

Subject: Fluidized Bed Filter question
From: MKern
Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 10:16:08 -0800
I have a fluidized bed filter that I noticed was not outputting the way it
should for the size pump that is connected.
I listened to the filter (not a clear walled filter), and did not hear the
sand moving. I removed the current pump and replaced it with a more
powerful pump.
Now I am getting this brownish hairy looking stuff coming out the outflow
pipe, and I am now getting the amount of outflow I should.
What is the brownish hairy looking stuff as there is no way for light to
enter the fluidized bed filter?
How do I clean off this stuff? What is coming out of the outflow?

Paula I didn't know for shure that it was a virus until i returned
it to the sender telling them that it was unopenable and thinking maybe
my sister at LosAlamos National lab. might have sent it .A return
message was sent to me on the 15th. stating that it was a virus that
infected Email lists .So I alerted the Aquaponicers just in case it
came from there .Truthfully my email isn't out there very much on oh
maybe in 12 places on family and friends computers plus your list and
the Tilapia,n redclaws and yours has the most activity by far so its a
guess that its from our membership

Hi:
I think Bruce is right. This thing keeps coming in. Initially we thought it was generated
locally.
However, a short while ago, it arrived with a batch of emails from the aquaponics list only. I
just
had two from Mr.hahaha with today's mail. There were other possible sources this time, but it
might be
worth a follow up. Hope this helps. I sure would like to have it gone.
