Hi Ted,
No, she was not that one. She changed her major from Physiology to Mathmatics
and eventually did get her Ph.D, Taught a while at Berkley, dropped out and
moved into a teepee just North of Sausalito with a guy who had a Ph.D in
theoretical physics. They were growing organic vegetables. Lost track of her
after that.

Ok friends..I found out this year that I have a high cholesterol level
due to hereditary factors, and need to supplement my diet by more
natural things.. since this yea rIve been eating a lot more food and
vegetables from the land based farm but looking more and more into an
aquaponic system to grow some of my foods too.

So.. I have no WEIGHT PROBLEM, but a CHOLESTEROL Problem... and U know I
too used to look around a persons midsection when they mentioned
cholesterol too..but I did a medical trace and found out that this came
from my fathers side... it is possible to know/do this after doing a
blood screen, which I asked my parents to do too. My Dad has already
probs because of his refusal to go more natural..Ive seen the iris of
his eyes go from black to gray white in 3 months after no longer eating

Mike,
My sincerest apology. I assumed you had a weight problem because here in the
cold frozen north Spirulina's primary function seems to be weight loss. You
know what thay say about ASSumptions.

Coconut and palm oils are playing havoc here too. It is used rather
extensively in processed foods because it is cheaper than other fats.

We had an Afro-American graduate student a few years after the gas-passing
lady who was quite slim but had a colesterol problem. When he first came to
us, he always ate an avacado every day for lunch. The doctors had him switch
to an orange and a banana and his problem improved dramitically. Avacados
have much fat in them.

We have a world class medical research university here in my city with over
10,000 staff and faculty from over a hundred countries. Several doctors I
know quietly grow their groceries in the back yard because they do not want
to eat the stuff from the super market. They do not want to talk about this
because they are afraid they would be considered crazy.

That is one of the reasons my wife and I decided to not have children.
Another reason is economics. I just turned 60, and in retrospect I think it
was one of the best decisions we ever made. On very modest salaries we have
had most of the toys including a Ferrari, hang gliders, hot air balloon and
collected orchids in various jungles and still retired before age 50. We have
a dog for companionship. Our dog has never called in the middle of the night
to say " Daddy, come get me out of jail." And we do not have to pay for
braces on her teeth or graduate school and we do not have to take her to
soccer practice.

<< I dont consider myself radical neither overly zealous.. I just think all
folks dealing with even aquaponics have one thing in common... we all
are/were and will not be satisfied with the things told to us...
supposedly "normal". We all have had to experiment and try something
new, and prove for ourselves what is right and true.. and that means
pearlite vs gravel, pumps vs gravity flow, or guano vs fish poo.

Try, test, prove, judge, discern!! We are called upon to do so..

 Go get em!!

 Have a great Sunday..

Jay,
You are basically correct. But times may be changing a bit. I have been
hanging around the University of Alabama at Birmingham in various capacities
( student, employee, staff, research associate, and now retired ) since 1957.
In the old days EVERYTHING was done at the convienence of the U. But that
began to change in the late '80's when the administration finally realized
they were loosing students and therefore revenue to other institutions who
were more friendly to student desires. After all, it is the students who
write the checks to fund the place.
Now, in my old age ( I just turned 60) I no longer travel North in the winter
or South in the summer because I don't have to do so. I have been in the
tropics a few times, and I can tell you February is the time to be there and
summer is not all the time to be there.
In my retirement, I have a small electronics business in a cluttered corner
of my garage. There is a sign over my workbench that says " If you don't make
the customer happy someone else will." So, maybe if we make the nice folks
down at UVI aware that there are several of us who would come and pay big
bucks in winter but will likely never come in the summer, perhaps they will
see a way to do a winter course for us even if it is a little inconvenient
for them.
Perhaps they already have more money than they know how to spend, but I
seriously doubt it. In any case, I wish them well.

Kindest regards,
Dave
