Steven just so you know the bumble bees are good workers as long as
you don't step on, in, or knock over their hive . If you do you will
likely get badly stung so learn to respect them.If for some reason they
get agitated stop all movement and I mean freeze until they quiet down
and you should not be attacked they will not see you as an aggressor

Steve, check out the 'postal' scales at Office Max or Office Depot. I got a
digital scale there a few years ago that would weigh up to about 5 lb or
2Kilo,cost <$100.
Good luck
David
|
| Also, I would like info on a scale that weighs in oz's. Anyone out there
got
| got any info on this. Everyone I look at cost $400+.
|
| Would appreciate any input.
|
| Thanks

| Pablo red pacu fingerlings are being offered for $70per hundred out of
| Florida on special right now from (5Ds in Plant City Florida
| 1-800-7775D5D). Thats 70 cents each now keep in mind at the pet store
| they are marked up considerably so it might be to your advantage to set
| up a fake pet store front so you can get the wholesale price lists sent
| to you automatically. Where are you located ? I bet you could get them
| out of Florida UPS or FEDEX or you could just pick them up at the
| airport
| Think of Pacu as you would goats they will eat just about any yard
| waste like lawn clippings

| Thank you, Arlos. You are saying it aint perfect, but it aint all that

and you have reality to back you
up

a comparison that many of us pampered

Thank you.

| Just for info, I have ordered the bumble bees. I will let everyone know
how
| it goes. There was no way I could pollinate 200 plants by hand. I am
open
| to any other options. the bees are expensive. But to the amount of blooms
I
| am loosing worth it. I have started with 30 plants way ahead of the
other
| 200 or so glad I did that, now I can work through all my problems.
Lesson
| learned.

I am trying to translate:
BARRIERS
PROBABLY, THE BEST METHOD TO PROTECT CARROTS AGAINST CARROTīS FLY IS BY
BUILDING UP AN 80 CM IN HEIGHT BARRIER AROUND, WITHOUT COVERING PLANTS. MOST
ADULT CARROTīS FLIES THAT INVADE CROPS ARE FEMALES. THEY FLIGHT 40 CM FROM
THE FLOOR AGAINST THE WIND, PROBABLY AS A RESPONSE TO CARROTīS SMELL.
THE FRAME OF THE BARRIER SHOULD BE 1-1.3 SQUARE METERS. IT SHOULD ALSO BE AS
RESISTANT AS POSSIBLE AND ITS SIDES COVERED WITH A SMALL IN SIZE, OPAQUE
MESH TO KEEP THE FLIES OUTSIDE. AS AN ALTERNATIVE, (TO THE MESH, I
UNDERSTAND) POLYETHYLENE CAN BE USED.
PLASTIC TUNNEL OR GLASS BELLS CAN ALSO BE USED AGAINST CARROTīS FLY. PLANTS
SHOULD BE SEPARATED AT LEAST 50 CM FROM THE TUNNEL (OR BELL) WALL SINCE
LARVAE CAN MIGRATE (OVER 50 CM) TO REACH HOST PLANTS.
Hope it helps
Jorge
